Retirement Series 4 - The After and Before for creating a little dry bar area off the client’s kitchen. I stole 2’ from the space left of the window to put in the kitchen and then I stole a foot of space from the adjacent laundry room. I didn’t want to close in the space with an upper cabinet to the right of the window, so I found this fabulous brass and glass shelving unit that I could hang from the ceiling. Retirement Series 3 - Bold and Spicy…and I’m not talking about the latest Chick Fil A sandwich 😉 Powder baths are such a fun place to go a little wild. The former bath was heavy with stone and divided into two spaces…it’s not that big, right?! So we opened it up and went full on sassy, fresh and light. Let me know if you want to see before pics.

Retirement Series 2 - Thank you for all the positive feedback for the first set of photos!! Made my day!! This is the kitchen that goes with the bathroom from Series 1. I even found a couple before pictures if you stick around for the fifth and sixth photos. We wanted a rich warm sophisticated brown-ish palette to complement what’s happening in the adjacent living and dining space. We haven’t been seeing much brown over the last 10 years and it feels fresh and timeless to me. We also had LOTS of load bearing details to work around…one of the many challenges of working in high rise buildings. So many things to love - the lighting, the backsplash, the hood (!!) and the gorgeous cabinets. What do you think?

Retirement Series 1 - I don’t know why, but I’ve been so nervous about posting the projects that I’ve worked on for the last few years. It’s been a prolific time for me. Five years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I decided that I needed to think long and hard about what I wanted the next 10 years of my life to look like, in case I had a recurrence and this was already not my first rodeo. So, I decided I didn’t want to work myself to death and I set a retirement date….for 2.5 years AGO! Turned out that wasn’t enough time to finish everything. I worked my t***y off, and now I’m done….BUT I never shared all the wonderful things that I had the honor to work on, which is sad. These won’t be swanky professional photos (unfortunately), just a girl and her iPhone. I’d love your feedback….like do you want to see more, that sort of thing. Fingers crossed you like it!!

I wonder how many people retire and say “ I can’t wait to go spend a bunch of time at the Jersey Shore?!?!” You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can’t take Jersey out of the girl!! It was a great month with family and friends coming and going. Lulu was an intrepid explorer on her first big road trip!! Shots from Long Beach Island and Cape May.

I’m devastated to share that my beautiful mom, Gloria Bonamici, passed away this past Saturday. It’s been the most awful week and I think I’m in shock. I thought we had more time! My mom lived with us for the last year and nearby for 15 years before that. I’m so very thankful that she was a big part of my kid’s lives, she lived to see them get married and start their own families. All told, she had 3 children, 6 grandchildren and currently 6 great grandchildren. She was, of course, amazing!! She was a voracious reader, a helluva Bridge player…she had lifelong friendships and so much more. She was an intense mama bear when something bad happened to her children. I will miss her every day for the rest of my life 💔
