The Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA) truly knocked it out of the park again this year. This event is one we look forward to all year long, and it never disappoints.

It was such a fun night spent with friends, clients, and colleagues from across Austin’s real estate, Business Development and AEC community.

Before May comes to a close, I want to take a moment to celebrate a few very special April birthdays we honored at Eberly. We had the pleasure of recognizing three incredible individuals who have each played a significant role in shaping Polkinghorn Group Architects (PGA).

Barbara Polkinghorn celebrated her 90th birthday — a milestone for someone who has meant so much to our firm. In 1972, Barbara was instrumental in the establishment of PGA and dedicated many years to its growth and success. It was a true honor to celebrate her. She continues to be a role model and an inspiration, and I strive every day to embody her grace, strength, and integrity.

Lindsay Works, AIA, NCARB also celebrated his birthday. Lindsay joined PGA in June 1981, right out of the University of Texas, and has since become a cornerstone of our practice. A licensed architect in 26 states, he is a recognized leader in healthcare design — from hospitals and surgery centers to medical office buildings and churches. If you're in the healthcare architecture field, you know his name, his work, and his reputation.

Ann Clift, who has long served PGA as our CPA, celebrated her birthday as well. Ann recently retired from her role at Foundation Communities and now brings even more of her time and expertise to PGA.

A heartfelt thank you to Barbara, Lindsay, and Ann for all you’ve done and continue to do. You each represent the very best of PGA.

Rankin Emergency Medical Services Building and Staff Housing – We are proud to showcase the Rankin Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Building and Staff Housing—a project designed (Design-Build with Lott Brothers Construction Company) with functionality, comfort, and community in mind.

The EMS Building features:

• Five EMS bays plus a dedicated wash bay
• Sleeping quarters accommodating up to six EMS staff
• Locker rooms with showers
• Private offices and an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area
• A versatile classroom for training and development

The project also includes thoughtfully designed staff housing units, complete with bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and laundry facilities. To further enhance the work-life balance of EMS personnel, the development boasts a beautifully landscaped outdoor space. Here, staff can unwind after a long day, enjoy a barbecue, relax with a drink, and engage in outdoor games—a true oasis in the desert. We’re thrilled to have been part of this project, supporting the vital work of Rankin Hospital creating a space where Rankin’s EMS professionals can thrive both on and off duty.

Congratulations to Audrey Wernecke and the PGA team on successfully completing the Baylor School of Medicine Student Center and Gross Anatomy Lab project! The new Student Support Center on Level 2 offers student-focused amenities, including a lounge, Zoom studios, group study rooms, respite spaces, a fitness center, and student organization meeting areas. Meanwhile, Level 3 houses the newly constructed gross anatomy lab, strategically designed to accommodate the significant student activity on Level 2.

Your dedication and hard work have brought this vision to life, and we are proud of what you have accomplished.

Shout-out to Eric Ourston for his outstanding work on the CareNow North Richland Hills project. Eric successfully managed the renovation and alteration of a 3,500 sq. ft. facility, which included significant exterior modifications to create a new urgent care clinic. Despite the challenges of a tight 14-week construction timeline, Eric's dedication and collaboration with Fast-Trak Construction ensured the project's timely and successful completion. Well done, Eric!
