When planning a remodel, it's easy to focus on the major spaces. Kitchens, living rooms, primary suites. But some of the most meaningful improvements happen in places that might otherwise be overlooked.

An awkward niche. An empty wall. A corner without a clear purpose.

Good interior design looks beyond what a space is and considers what it could become.

In this remodel, custom cabinetry and millwork transform overlooked areas into spaces tailored specifically for how our client lives . A recessed niche becomes a display cabinet for cherished accessories and collections. A built-in desk provides a dedicated workspace that can be tucked away when not in use. An unused alcove becomes a compact bar, creating a destination for gathering and entertaining.

None of these spaces required an addition or expanded footprint. They simply make better use of the home that was already there.

Sometimes the biggest transformation comes from seeing possibilities where others see limitations.

When people think about bringing nature into a home, they often think about plants or large windows. Those details certainly help. But sometimes the connection is a little more subtle.

In this reading nook from a recent remodel, the inspiration starts with the view. The curves of the chairs echo the branches outside the window. The green upholstery reflects the leafy canopy beyond. Even the artwork feels a little like a collection of colors gathered from the landscape.

Those same tones continue into the sofa and the area rug, creating a quiet connection between what happens inside the room and what's waiting just beyond the glass.

It's a series of small decisions that help a space feel grounded in its surroundings. And often, that's what makes a room so inviting.

A little color goes a long way!

In our Northwest Classic Project, we used green like a connective thread, starting with what our client actually loved. The shade. The mood. The sophisticated level of “bold.” Then we carried it from room to room in a way that feels natural. In the drapery, the wallpaper, the pillows, the small moments. Not so everything matches, but so the house feels like it’s speaking the same language all the way through.

It’s one of our favorite ways to make a home feel layered without feeling busy.

Even with construction still underway, you can already feel where this suite bathroom is headed.

We designed it to read as a calm oasis. And the finishes are starting to do the work. That floor pattern pulls you straight into the room and gives the long sightline a steady rhythm. The warm cabinetry adds softness, then quietly picks up the wood tone beyond the bath so the whole suite feels connected.

Quartzite was the right choice here. It adds natural depth and movement without asking for attention. And we took our time on the “small” decisions too. Mirror scale. Sconce placement. Both in proportion with the tall ceilings.

Because that’s the difference between a bathroom that looks nice and one that actually feels intentional.

This is the kind of living room that makes people stay awhile!

Soft seating you actually want to sink into. Layers that feel collected, not crowded. And just enough contrast to keep everything from going too quiet.

In this Tarrytown remodel, we designed the downstairs primary living space for everyday connection. Morning coffee that turns into a slow start. A quick catch-up that turns into an hour. Friends who wander in “for a minute” and somehow end up staying until the sun goes down.

And the finishing touches matter so much. brought in those final styling moments that make the whole space feel lived-in in the best way. The kind of details that don’t shout, but you feel them.

Natural light changes how a kitchen feels, and how it functions.

In this Tarrytown remodel, the architect repurposed an underutilized playroom and gave the kitchen a generous new footprint in a part of the home that already had beautiful daylight. And the best part is that the windows and that detailed sloped ceiling were already here. They are not just “nice details.” They shape the experience of the room.

From multiple viewpoints, you can see how evenly the light moves through the space. It travels across the island and work surfaces instead of pooling in one corner, which keeps the room feeling open even when the day gets busy.

Then we layered in materials that know how to behave in bright spaces. White oak cabinetry with quiet warmth. Lightly leathered quartzite that reflects without glaring. And an organic-meets-modern pendant that feels intentional, but never loud.

That balance is the goal. A kitchen should have presence, but it should also feel easy to live in all day, every day.

We had a great time connecting with local high school interior design students at ProSource of Austin through our partnership with the Austin NARI Workforce Development Foundation.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the materials, products, and possibilities that shape the world of interior design made the experience especially inspiring. Opportunities like this are a great reminder of how important it is to connect the next generation of designers to the creativity and possibilities within our industry.

It’s always exciting to see students exploring an interest in design, asking thoughtful questions, and learning more about the many paths this industry can offer.

There is something special about this part of the process.

After a photo shoot, we sit down with the final gallery and revisit the project one frame at a time. The light. The composition. The quiet details that took shape over the past months. It is the point where everything comes together and the design reads the way it was meant to.

Working with photographers like Avery Nicole Photography makes a huge difference, because they don’t just document a space. They capture the intention behind it, so the story feels clear in every image.

Then comes the hard part: choosing the final portfolio set. It’s equal parts excitement and appreciation, because there are always so many frames worth sharing.

We’re so grateful for the creative partnership that exists with great photographers—they always offer us the chance to see our work in a fresh way.

Absolutely blown away, in the best way.

The grand opening of was pure inspiration. The scale. The texture. The color. The movement. Every piece brought something unexpected into the space, and the curation offered the opportunity to slow down and enjoy.

What stayed with us most was how alive the gallery felt. Not only because the work was striking, but because it guided the eye, created rhythm and pause, and sparked conversation without anyone needing an introduction.

It’s a reminder of why we love designing around art. When the work is bold and thoughtfully chosen, it does more than fill a wall. It sets the tone.

Seeing our Bluebird Psychiatry project come to life during the open house was incredibly rewarding. The clinic was filled with people, conversation, and energy, and after months of planning, collaboration, and thoughtful coordination, it was exciting to watch the design do exactly what it was intended to do.

So much of what makes a project feel effortless is decided long before opening day. Layout planning. Finish and material selections. Lighting decisions. Hardware and fixture specifications. Furnishings and final accessories. The transitions and touchpoints you notice without even realizing it. All the behind the scenes choices that shape how the environment feels and functions.

From concept to completion, the goal stayed the same: a clinic that feels approachable and reassuring, with an experience that is intuitive and comfortable for both patients and staff.

We are so grateful for the continued trust of this repeat client and for the opportunity to help bring this project to life.
