Bucket gardening is perfect for small spaces 🪴 A few tips that help:
🍅 Use deeper buckets for tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and carrots.
🥒 Choose bush varieties when you can, especially for cucumbers and zucchini.
💧 Drill drainage holes before planting so roots don’t sit in water.
🌿 Add good potting mix, not heavy garden soil.
🥬 Greens like lettuce, spinach, radishes, and green onions are great for beginner container crops.
I like buckets because you can move them around until you find the sunniest, easiest spot.

The Miller Butterfly House opens for the season on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21.

Step into a living garden experience where butterflies move freely around you as you explore their world. Learn about the full life cycle from caterpillar to butterfly and discover which plants help attract them to your own backyard garden.

Hours: Daily, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. (weather permitting)
Open seasonally June 21–August 31, 2026 (closed July 4)
Admission: $2 per person
Conservatory & Butterfly House bundle: $5
Children 2 and under: Free

We're selling these herb boxes at the Plant Sale on Saturday, May 16th. The boxes are $20 along with 3 herbs of your choice. These boxes were made by the Avon Middle School students for us.
