Dear friends of Family Farmers Seed Cooperative,
We dissolved our business in 2018. We were established in 2008 and worked diligently at a farmer's pace to create a seed network with 13 amazing seed growers in 7 western states. Ultimately our greatest strength of decentralized, bioregional production was also a barrier to organizational and business efficiency. Bill McDorman of Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance recently traveled to southern Colorado to teach Grain School and help FFSC set-up its new order fulfillment center. We welcomed him with crock pot full of Pueblo chilé stew.

Family Farmers Seed Cooperative is growing and moving! We will be setting up our Seed Hub at the Excelsior Farmers Exchange Food Hub near Pueblo, Colorado for the 2016 seed season. Pueblo and the nearby farming community of Rocky Ford have a rich agricultural history and reputation for growing high quality vegetable seeds, and melons, watermelons, and peppers, in particular. FFSC members determined to make the move because of the arid climate, which is desirable for seed storage, and other supportive resources available by being housed at a farmer-owned and operated Food Hub. We think this might be the first example in North America of a seed hub and a food hub joining forces. FFSC was incorporated in 2008 and incubated at Seven Seeds Farm in Williams, Oregon.

Friends of FFSC-- sorry to be sporadic with our FB posts, but we are very much alive and in the middle of some great seed harvests! we will have our new seed offerings posted late this fall.

Our 14 member farmer-owned cooperative grows and sells certified organic, open pollinated, public domain, farmer-bred, improved, and heirloom vegetable seed. Direct to farmers and gardeners through our website and to other businesses through our "Co-op Seed" rack program.

Irrigation water comes into lower-lying western farms during March and April/May for higher elevations. FFSC members in NM, CO, and NE mostly have their biennial seed crops of carrots, onions, and leeks in the ground by now. check back in the fall for availability through FFSC website! www.organicseedcoop.com
