One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned this season? Don’t skip the netting.🤦🏻♀️
My lisianthus were absolutely beautiful and just weeks away from being enjoyed in my Summer CSA bouquets. Then the Texas wind and Mother Nature reminded me who’s really in charge.
I lost a significant portion of my crop when strong winds bent the stems over and pulled some plants right out of the ground. There wasn’t much I could do to save them.
Flower farming has a way of keeping you humble. Just when you think you’ve planned for everything, nature teaches you something new.
But farming is also about hope. 🌈
I’m holding onto the possibility that the plants left in the ground will reward me with a second flush later this season. And the blooms I was able to harvest are getting plenty of hydration and care in hopes they’ll still make an appearance in my first Summer CSA bouquet of the season.
Not every harvest story is perfect, but every season brings lessons, resilience, and gratitude. Today, I’m choosing to focus on the flowers I was able to save and the joy they’ll still bring.🫶🏼🥹🌸
🌸 Here’s to learning, adapting, and blooming anyway.🫶🏼
