Decorating for fall is a time-honored tradition in my life. Getting to now also assist clients with their fall decorating is just icing on the cake.
My mom taught me the importance of creating beautiful spaces. When I was growing up she was decorating without the pressures of social media. She didn't do it for views, likes, or to be trendy. She didn't care if we were the only ones who ever saw her hard work, she made it clear we were worth it. For her, decorating was simply an outpouring of her love for us as she turned our house into a home. She created a million and one unique family traditions that provided a sense of safety in their consistency and gave us an extra level of excitement as we celebrated the turning of the seasons. She taught me that adding beauty to the ordinary and celebrating the simple things in life is never a waste. 🍁🍂🧡

This was such a fun project!
So many of my projects I have to work on solo while my clients are away so I really enjoyed working alongside this client and walking them through the organizational process.
My client wanted to reclaim this space as a clothes closet so we established a secondary closet for all crafting supplies. All crafting supplies were purged and organized. We went through all the clothes and I helped my client take a hard look at what was actually being used or not. I am always a proponent of taking the time to look at every single piece of clothing and they did a marvelous job at purging what they no longer wore/liked. I cleaned out the closet, said goodbye to all the mismatched hangers and opted for all velvet and wood ones which she already had on hand. Keepsakes also gone through. Paperwork purged. The closet was left organized, color coordinated, with everything visible, logically laid out, and accessible. Clutter reduced by 50%

Side note: I took on some work down in LA recently and have increased my hours in Bakersfield so yes it's been awhile since I last posted 🤣
As for my own projects I have been curating homeschool curriculum for my oldest throughout the summer and laying out his broad school plan for the next 12 years... Yes, that's just how my brain works. Running after my youngest. Making time for date nights. Reading aloud as a family. Sherlock Holmes for Nick and I, Little Pilgrim's Progress for my oldest, and The Little Blue Truck on repeat for my youngest. I've been writing, researching, amateur baking, thrifting, embroidering, and as always organizing.
My husband's health has been a lot recently, but that has just convicted us both to be a lot more intentional with the time we do have.

Life is beautiful.
Even the messy parts.
Especially the messy parts.
God is good.

Everyone has a pile. I'm a professional organizer and even I have a pile! How I regulate mine is by limiting it to less than 10 items. Usually by the end of the week I've worn most of my pile and reset what's less.
The problem comes when your "pile" becomes your closet.

You may need to call an organizer if:
-you've run out of space in your closet for putting away your pile
-your pile is larger than a small child
-your pile has multiplied
-you no longer know what is clean vs dirty
-your closet is no longer a safe space and you're completely overwhelmed😅

An organized space brings peace. Not merely because it is restful on the eyes but because it is restful to the soul.

I have been in a rather stressful season and so every evening I find a few items for the donate bag. When my plate is full with dozens of things all clamoring for my attention the last thing I want to deal with is more stuff. So let there be less. Perhaps it helps to have littles. I am no longer attached to that dish because it is now in 1,000 pieces. I guess we can get rid of that board book since the baby tore it to shreds. Guess that special notebook is now scratch paper😂 While things can brighten our lives, at the end of the day it's just stuff. I want to use my fine china, I want to wear my pretty dresses, I want to light the candles, I want to use the good blankets, I want to do the crafts. Anything I'm not using I want gone. I am always purging through my home and of late I've really been trying to eliminate the excess. Life can be chaotic and uncontrollable, your home does not have to reflect that. I look back at old organizing project pics like this one to keep me motivated. Trying to create the sea of tranquility in a home occupied by littles is an uphill battle. The chaos persists, but so do I 😄

A little Monday motivation 😇

There are so many similarities I can draw from life to organizing. For me it's been a week, a month... months. Sometimes we face insurmountable obstacles, we get so overwhelmed, we have no idea how to even begin to get out of our messes.
But the point is simply to begin.
A life quote for me has become: "When you don't know what to do, do what you know to do."
When I'm sorting through a big pile of items at work I start by simply sorting like items into smaller piles. This quickly simplifies things into manageable bite sized pieces. If I ask a client to go through everything all at once they will quickly become overwhelmed, but if I sort first and have smaller piles ready for them they are able to stay focused in the purging and decision making process.
This week I must apply the same process to myself. I can't fix all the pressing issues I face in one day, but I can start by tackling the little ones. Slowly that huge pile becomes smaller and I can begin to see a game plan of how I might begin to tackle some of the bigger items on my list.
So this week let's jump in with both feet and chip away at the pile. Whether you make it through your whole check list or only one or two items doesn't matter, what matters is just pushing yourself to try. Celebrate the little victories, and give grace to yourself for what you can't get to yet.

Organizing isn't just a simplifying of your home. It is a stress reliever. I have lost count of the amount of clients that say living in a cluttered space negatively affects their moods, their energy, and their focus. Organizing cultivates our homes into the restful places they are intended to be. The place where one can come home to and truly destress and decompress from the day😇

Garages are one of my toughest projects to tackle, but also one of the most rewarding. It's not like a closet where you're going through mostly clothes, or an office with paperwork, or a pantry with food. It's always a complete guessing game of what you're going to find. I can usually count on the usual: tools, Christmas decorations, car stuff, building supplies, camping gear, sports equipment, etc. The challenge comes in with all the random things one might discover. The items I have found over the years range from rare to bizarre to fascinating. Items that have often been completely forgotten about finally get to once again see the light of day and either be finally thrown away, or used, or put on display. Garages are the perfect place for long term storage, but there are also many hidden treasures that could be put to good use right now just waiting to be rediscovered.

Today we celebrated the big ONE. What a wonderful addition to our little family this guy has been. He sure makes his presence known wherever he goes and is trying so hard to talk, LOUDLY and OFTEN😂. He loves his family, his doggie, brother's monster trucks, music, and dancing. We are so in love with our big chonk. Happy first birthday Jarrett! ❤️

Reason 1,457,899 why I love my job. Getting a crash course in whatever hobby or profession my clients are in. I've worked for artists, moms and dads, quilters, mechanics, technicians, plumbers, designers, jewelers, entrepreneurs, chefs, bakers, therapists, electricians, producers, writers, speakers, photographers, philanthropists, doctors, models, missionaries, insurance reps, pastors, accountants, ranchers, musicians, engineers, teachers, and the list goes on. I see life as an ongoing education and what a gift it is to be able to learn on the go from so many people from such varied walks of life. I love getting a glimpse into the pursuits of my clients and learning about the things that inspire them. It's my goal as an organizer to help declutter/streamline my client's lives to give them more time to pursue what they love.
