Update: May 22nd
With the assistance of Sani 2 and John Cools, the issue has been addressed and the garbage has been cleared.
We spoke directly with the owner of the house in question. Although the name had been removed from the package, the UPS tracking number remained, which allowed us to verify the address. The homeowner initially denied responsibility and stated that we could not have known the package belonged to them since the label had been removed β despite the fact that we never informed him the address label was missing.
Once confronted with the tracking information and the security video footage, he apologized and stated he would take care of the garbage. Unfortunately, the garbage was not properly removed and only some items were moved to the curb.
Sani 2 stepped in and removed the remaining items early this morning, despite it not being a scheduled pickup day for this block.
Our deep appreciation goes out to the outstanding staff at Sani 2 and to John Cools for their assistance and professionalism. We are fortunate to have such dedicated people supporting our community.
As a follow up we are still infortunately, we are dealing with an ongoing illegal dumping situation at our property. After reviewing our security camera footage, we were able to identify the addresses connected to the individuals involved. The incident has been reported to Sani2, and a police report will also be filed tomorrow.
Our staff confronted the neighbors involved, and the homeowner stated that the garbage belonged to his tenants. Unfortunately, even after the homeowner was notified of the situation, the illegal dumping continued.
What is most disappointing is that after our initial post β and after the store had already closed β the same individuals returned and dumped additional garbage both alongside our building and onto the public sidewalk.
To avoid violations and issues with the Town, we will unfortunately need to move the garbage fully onto our property until it can be properly removed. This means the debris may remain visible throughout the three-day weekend and during Mondayβs parade.
We sincerely apologize to our neighbors, customers, and the Baldwin community for the appearance of the property during this time. No business owner should have to deal with this type of behavior, but we are taking the proper legal and municipal steps to address it.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out with support and concern.
