From a drawing three years ago to the close to fruition bunk room in Deep Creek Lake. The concept is bears everywhere. Our client wanted a literal bear room, so…we delivered bears, bears, everywhere!

Super fun night with my super fun gal pal at the party. The Australian Embassy is lovely, the drinks were out of this world (I only drank the foam on that espresso martini bc I would have been drunk AND up all night if I actually drank it), and the lamb lollipops and oysters were yummy!

Gotta do black tie more often!

Outside of drawings, we might put more time and effort into window treatments than any other aspect of design! It’s a crucial piece of the overall finishing of a space and yet one many people overlook (even some designers!).

Here is the shade below the faux-man demystified!

Appliances
Early pass at cabinetry
Early pass at materials
Revised floorplans and cab layouts in CAD
Honed material selections
Color testing and selection
Cabinet feasibility and pricing
Client HW where they want things
Start on adjacent living room…

Next up:
Finalize cab layout, finish, internal inserts, hardware
Lighting
Flooring and tile
Banquette finalization
Painted/plastered finishes

We took an FCD field trip to the to see the thoughtful and profound collection of works of

I had the pleasure of seeing the Obama portraits at the National Portrait Gallery a few years ago but being able to look at these works reminded me how portraiture can hold history, possibility, and humanity all at once.

It’s also reminder that viability matters, and that art has the power to re-shape how we see each other and ourselves. Her work is so powerful yet quiet at the same time. The strengths in her subjects’ faces, the color palettes, and the way she, “renders skin as a radical tool for redirection,” has such an impact.

Unfortunately the exhibit is ending soon and all dates are sold out but if you should absolutely find her work!
