Technology is moving so fast these days that even those of us in the home accessibility industry are learning something new every day!

A prospective client recently called Home Safe Home and mentioned that she found us through “Copilot.”

Dena’s response?

“Wow, that’s amazing! A pilot recommended us?”

After a brief pause, the client kindly explained that Copilot is Microsoft’s AI assistant—not an actual pilot flying around sharing Home Safe Home referrals. ✈️😂

Needless to say, we all got a good laugh out of it.

The good news? Whether you find us through AI, Google, a healthcare professional, a friend, or apparently an imaginary network of supportive pilots, we’re just grateful you found us.

As technology continues to change how people search for services, it’s exciting to see Home Safe Home showing up in new places—and giving us a few laughs along the way.

Home Safe Home had a fabulous day at the Copper Ridge Nursing resource fair last week!

Events like these give us the opportunity to share our passion for helping older adults and individuals with disabilities remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their homes. Whether it’s grab bars, ramps, stairlifts, bathroom modifications, or accessibility solutions, we love educating families about the resources available to help them age in place safely.

One of the best parts of the day was meeting so many people who are dedicated to supporting seniors and learning more about the challenges families face as they navigate care decisions.

This transformation highlights a few key design principles that can significantly reduce risk and improve day-to-day function:

Stepping over a tub wall is one of the most common causes of falls. A walk-in shower eliminates that transition.

🔹 Improved layout & space
Tight spaces make it harder to maneuver — especially if someone uses a walker or needs assistance. Opening up the footprint creates safer movement patterns.

🔹 Slip-resistant surfaces
Flooring matters more than people think. The right materials can reduce slipping, even when wet.

🔹 Accessible fixtures
Handheld showerheads and thoughtfully placed controls allow for safer, more independent use.

🔹 Future planning

This bathroom was designed with the future in mind.

The homeowners wanted the ability to age in place, so we thoughtfully planned the shower to adapt with their needs over time. Today, it functions as a beautiful, traditional shower with sliding glass doors.

But behind the design is a smarter plan—when the time comes, those doors can be removed to instantly create a fully accessible roll-in shower, without the need for any renovations.

It’s about creating spaces that are not only functional for today, but ready for tomorrow—without sacrificing style.

This ramp was designed to seamlessly blend into the existing architecture, matching the lines, colors, and character of the house. Instead of feeling like an add-on, it feels intentional—like it was always meant to be there.

The result? A safe, functional, and fully accessible entrance that maintains (and even elevates) the home’s curb appeal.
