Built a free tool this week that tells you what the wood from your tree is actually worth in energy savings as firewood.
Three inputs. Species, trunk diameter, height. The tool does the math and tells you:
— How many face cords of firewood the tree would yield
— How many BTU that's worth
— How much you'd save on your heating bill vs propane, natural gas, fuel oil, or electricity
— How much CO2 you'd avoid by burning wood instead of fossil fuels
— A typical savings range on your removal quote if you keep the wood instead of hauling it away
The math is real. All the species data comes from the USDA Forest Products Lab — published research, not vibes. Built it because every fall I talk to homeowners who don't realize their tree is worth a season's worth of heating if they just keep the wood.
