While at a completed project this morning, taking photos and measurements for an addition, I was reminded that I did a pretty good job with this design! I really should get some professional photos taken; seems like it turned out pretty well. Construction very well by orchestrated by Dan Hurley!

This is a home that I designed 12 years ago and haven't visited for over 10 years; never had great photos of it, but now that it's being sold at least I get to see how it has aged.

The owners are downsizing but in a conversation this morning they expressed their love for the place and how it has provided comfort and delight over the years.

This is a makeover that I'm working on for a cottage on Swan's island. I typically build a computer model of the existing conditions on which I can base my design work. The clients can then easily compare the new design to the existing.

We are adding 10' to the structure on the water side to increase living space, reorganizing the living spaces, changing all of the windows to improve views, daylight and ventilation (although they want to use picture windows on the front) and adding second floor dormers.

I designed this house about 18 years ago and it's still one of my favorites; it is aging nicely, in my opinion.

Aside from the random Facebook post, I do so little marketing. It's kind of embarrassing actually, but ever since Apple stopped hosting websites using iWeb I have not updated my website. Anyway, here's another tiny snippet of my work, a project currently "on the boards".

Folks here's just one example of the difference between a professionally-designed home and one that was not. You are not likely to hire a dentist to build the place are you? Right, you're hiring a professional builder, so why not attempt to get the design right as well? Don't let the builder work it out on the fly (although there are a select few who are very capable) or your dream home will be much like the first image. We need these places to stand for decades and the greater its functionality, durability and appeal the longer it will stand for its occupants to enjoy and its passersby to behold.

Here's a 3D walkthrough of a little house that I "doodled' a couple of years ago. Camera work courtesy of the talented and ever-delightful Dory Smith Graham with a Matterport 3D unit.

For those that have never viewed one of these walk-throughs, check out the three icons in the lower lefthand corner of your screen. In either the dollhouse view or the floor plan view, just click somewhere in the building and it'll take you "inside". Then hold your mouse button down and move it around to look around the space. Your mouse icon will have a blue circle attached; click anywhere else in the house and it'll take you to that space, then look around some more.

Such cool technology!!
