The Friends of the Library, along with the Baraboo Area Literacy Council, is planning a day to help clean up the gardens in the front of the library. As you know, last year's failed city referendum resulted in budget cuts to all departments, therefore we are looking for volunteers to help with this project. We will be working on the morning of May 23rd, from 9-noon, digging up weeds and spreading mulch. Mulch will be provided. If you can help, for any amount of time, please bring gloves, rakes, shovels, dandelion diggers and buckets and just show up at the library. All help is very much appreciated and the results will be beautiful!

The second session of our new Let’s Get Green & Growing (On the Road) program will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 9:30-11:45 AM at the Kilbourn Public Library at 620 Elm Street in Wisconsin Dells, WI. It will feature “Plant Responses to Climate Change,” presented by Professor Jack Williams from the UW-Madison Department of Georgraphy and Center for Climatic Change, and “Container Gardening: Garden Places in Small Spaces,” presented by Columbia County Master Gardener Volunteers Kate Rietmann, Lori Richter, Ardyce Piehl, and Becky Gutzman.

Our aim is to deliver current, research-based information in a welcoming and accessible manner. The events will be hosted by the libraries, and we are working closely with them to ensure a seamless experience for all attendees. Participation is free, but we ask participants to register for the sessions.

We look forward to seeing you at the second session and hope you will continue to participate in this informative and enjoyable series.
