Pollinators week is just a few days away and for us is an opportunity to reach out to our community and talk about this very important subject.
So who are the pollinators? well, birds, bats, bees, butterflies, bettles and other small mammals that travel from plant to plant carrying pollen on their bodies allowing for the transfer of critical reproductive materials of most flowers that bring countess fruits, vegetables and nuts.
It's a nearly invisible ecosystem that requires our attention and support.
Pollinator populations are changing and some are declining for many reasons, but some of these losses are attributed to loss in feeding and nesting habits, pollution, misuse of chemicals, disease and changes in climate.
But we can all help to sustain this fragile ecosystem. Spread the word about the importance of pollinators. Plant more native and other host plants preferred by pollinators, use no chemicals in your pollinating garden, support your local farmers and beekeepers, lets all do our part.
As in the past, we will be raffling a pollinators container/ garden at the conclusion of pollinator's week. Receive a free entry with every purchase.
Have a great week everyone!! π
