This year marks 10 years in business for Cape — and it's been one heck of a ride. A decade ago, the company was the owner, a single truck, and a personal handshake with every customer. Today the team has grown, the trucks have multiplied, and we're proud to serve a whole lot more homes across the Cape — but the philosophy hasn't changed. Every homeowner still gets the same thoughtful, personalized approach we started with on day one.
We've also got some big news: we've officially rebranded as Cape Heating, Air Conditioning, and Electrical. The new name reflects what we've grown into — a full home services partner, not just a heat pump company. That now includes:
⚡ Furnace servicing
⚡ Electrical service upgrades
⚡ A dedicated service electrician on the team
What hasn't changed: clear proposals, no surprises, and a serious commitment to protecting your home and your equipment. Full pricing is right on the website — link below. Thanks for an incredible 10 years, Cape Cod. Here's to the next decade. 🎉

The filter aisle at the hardware store is confusing on purpose. Half the packaging screams "ALLERGY PROTECTION" and "ULTRA CLEAN AIR," and most of it isn't actually doing much. Here's what you need to know:
Most homes have a one-inch pleated filter — usually around MERV 8. That's catching the big stuff (lint, large dust particles) and almost nothing else. The dust, dander, pollen, and microscopic particles you actually care about? Sailing right through and recirculating back into your air.
The MERV rating is the number that actually matters. The higher the MERV, the more your filter catches. Step up to a properly sized higher-MERV filtration system and you're suddenly pulling allergens, pet hair, and fine particulate OUT of the air instead of just relocating it. The catch is that not every system can handle a high-MERV filter without proper setup — which is where having someone who knows what they're doing matters.
We've taken the guesswork out of HVAC pricing too — it's all right on the website.

Summer on the Cape isn't a Phoenix problem. We're not battling 115-degree dry heat out here — we're battling 80 degrees with 95% relative humidity, and that combination feels worse in your living room than triple digits in the desert. Sticky air, clammy skin, that "I just can't get comfortable" feeling no matter what the thermostat says.
Here's the thing most homeowners don't realize: your AC's real job in this climate isn't just cooling. It's dehumidifying. A properly sized, properly designed system pulls moisture out of the air alongside the heat — and that's what actually makes your home feel comfortable. An oversized system cools the air too fast without removing enough humidity, leaving you cold AND clammy at the same time. An undersized one can't keep up with either.
Designing for Cape Cod summers means designing for moisture, not just temperature. See full pricing on our website — link below.

Cape Cod nor'easters don't follow a schedule. They can hit in fall, spring, even the middle of winter — and they always seem to land at the worst possible moment. Here's how to make sure your HVAC system rides through storm season without becoming a headache:
✅ Keep the outdoor unit clear of debris before, during, and after storms
✅ Maintain proper airflow around the unit at all times
✅ Schedule maintenance before storm season hits
❌ Don't cover the unit
❌ Don't put guards or cages around it
Modern outdoor units are built to handle harsh weather. We've literally had a customer's unit keep running and heating their home AFTER a tree fell on it. The equipment is durable. The mistakes that cause real damage are usually the well-intentioned things homeowners do trying to "protect" the unit — which actually trap moisture, restrict airflow, and create the exact problems they're trying to prevent.
Storm-season ready beats storm-season scrambling. Pricing on the website, link below.

Annual HVAC maintenance gets a bad reputation, but the truth is it's for your benefit — not ours. Skip it for a few years and small problems compound into expensive ones. Here's what a real professional tune-up actually catches:
🔹 Filter issues — systems work harder than people realize, and filters get dirty fast
🔹 Indoor coil contamination — mold and mildew love the conditions inside an HVAC system
🔹 Outdoor coil blockages — pollen and airborne debris on the Cape will plug a unit faster than you'd think
Stay on top of these and three things happen: your system runs MORE efficiently (lower bills), MORE effectively (better comfort), and lasts longer (delaying replacement by years). Skip them and you're cutting the lifespan of expensive equipment for the sake of saving a couple hundred bucks a year. The math doesn't work.
