We love where we live... but it's 97% white and we do NOT love that. We wish our kids were exposed to more diversity on a regular basis, so we've made a point of trying to represent a lot of different races, ethnicities, cultures and points of views in our children's book library (and I know we have more work to do). I thought I'd share some of the books we own and love in case you're looking for any inspiration. We also included some links to other sites that have excellent tips for how to talk to kids about race, racism and becoming anti-racists.

64 days ago I picked Joey up from preschool like any other Thursday, not knowing we would get the announcement later that day that schools across Ohio were closing. Today is her last official day of school so we had a parade through the school parking lot and picked up her diploma. 🎓I couldn’t be more proud of how much she has learned and grown over this school year, even with all its challenges, thanks to the most amazing teachers at the most amazing school. She started out shy and now she’s talking to strangers! And she grew two inches! I don’t know what school will look like going forward but I know Joey will do awesome! 💗 @ The Cooperative Preschool of Bay Village

Construction is on hold at the cabin, but before they stopped to quarantine they were able to replace the rotting wood siding on the back. This side of the house gets the full brunt of weather coming off Lake Michigan so the 40+-year-old siding was in pretty bad shape. I included some before and during shots where you can see how bad some of the wood was, especially along the bottom. Now it’s fresh and new and ready for a few more decades of wind and snow. And someday they’ll be allowed to come back and finish the bathroom...🤞

Last weekend I had about a million things to do, so naturally I decided on a whim to paint stripes in our half-bath instead 🤷‍♀️. I used old paint samples I found in the basement, and I’m so glad I went for it. This teeny tiny white room finally has a little bit of personality. But now I’m just kind of freaking out about all the things I didn’t do last weekend!! Eek!! 🤦‍♀️
