#2️⃣ ABUNDANCE MINDSET:
Plant far more than you plan to harvest to account for loss due to pests / disease / wildlife.

#3️⃣ FAILURE IS KEY:
If you do not fail, you will not learn. Research a little bit and then just GO get out there and put your hands in the soil and start making mistakes. I am still failing and learning to this day.

Is it even winter if your strawberries are about to ripen up?

Not really down here in this zone 9b of Southern California where I reside. And that’s one of the things I love about living here. Winter is more like pre-spring and many varieties that would freeze in much of the country get along just fine.

With that in mind there are about 2-3 months in late summer that are unbearably hot but the rest of the year is pleasant and it beats having a long cold winter where not much can grow.

This past week the temps dipped under freezing so I tucked a few sensitive plants under this makeshift greenhouse. (Previously a 10 gallon aquarium)

I’ve left it covering them for about a week and only remove it when we have a really warm day. When I stick my hand in it feels way warmer than outside temps so I’m sure my plants are happy.

I have passion fruit and a fig protected- all started from cuttings awhile ago. Hopefully they make it to spring when the weather will be kind to them. @ Loma Linda

My days of pest free garden maintenance have come to an end!
