🎨 How Long Does Paint Take to Dry?

One of the most common questions we hear is, "How long before I can use the space normally again?"

While paint is often dry to the touch within about an hour, it can take several weeks—and sometimes up to two months—to fully cure. Factors like temperature, humidity, airflow, and the type of paint all play a role.

To protect your new paint:
✔️ Wait a few days before rehanging pictures and wall décor.
✔️ Avoid scrubbing freshly painted walls.
✔️ Handle newly painted cabinets, doors, and trim with care.
✔️ Allow extra drying time during cool or humid weather.

As a Portland and Beaverton painting contractor, we see a lot of popular white paint colors come through our residential painting projects. But Sisu Painting owner and color consultant Nancy Long has two she just can’t fully embrace:
