JRJ’s Jason Mullavey and Tom Wesel enjoying golf with Josh Condon (HSW), Dr. Walter Urba (Providence Cancer) and Kevin Pasion (Providence) to support Providence Foundation’s initiative at their annual fundraising golf tournament! What a beautiful day and an important event, one which JRJ has supported for the last 4+ years.

Ana Borgheriu is the newest addition to the JRJ team, interning in our Interiors/Finishes department until December. She will be graduating in May of 2024 with a Bachelors of Interior Design, a Minor in Construction Management and a Minor in Art from Washington State University.

With her sights set on a career in Interior Design for public spaces, Ana is excited to create environments where people can feel comfortable in places where they may have felt vulnerable in the past, such as Healthcare and Governmental/Municipal buildings.

Under the supervision of our Senior Interiors staff, Ana has joined teams working on a Med-Spa, X-Ray Fluoroscopy and Bone Densitometry rooms. She is also revitalizing our finishes library.

Ana is relatively new to the Portland are and is enjoying trying new places to eat, visiting art galleries and local festivals. An adventurer and risk-taker at heart, she also has a travel goal - to visit every country in Europe before she turns 30. So far, she has been to five. That sounds like a great time; can we come too!?

Jonah Nees joined us in late June as a summer intern. This University of Oregon Senior will be completing his Bachelors in Architecture in 2024.

With designs on a certification as a Passive Housing Consultant (CPHC), LEED GA and full AIA licensure, Jonah is most interested in the intersection of climate change and design. He is eager to develop solutions to environmental issues within the field of architecture.

JRJ has benefitted from Jonah's substantial skills in Revit modeling and graphic design. He was instrumental in developing fly-through models for several current projects in Radiology and IDF, as well as providing graphic element development for a recent RFP response (fyi - we won the RFP!)

Jonah enjoys exploring in the Pacific Northwest, be it hiking, backpacking, running, camping or biking. He recently returned from a family vacation in Glacier National Park and will be studying abroad in Italy and Switzerland this next Spring. We are hopeful that he can fit working with JRJ back into his busy schedule sometime soon!

Ekaterina (Katya) Siemoneit has recently joined JRJ as a Job Captain. Katya received her Bachelor’s of Architecture in Moscow, Russia, studied Interior Design in Milan, Italy, and received her Master’s of Architecture from Boston Architectural College, where she also co-taught a course in Sustainable Systems. This world traveler most recently lived and worked in Alaska as an Architectural Designer, utilizing her skills in Revit, construction documentation, consultant coordination and pre-design research. As an Associate AIA, Katya adds to the JRJ team an enhanced worldview of design.

Outside of the office, Katya is a member of the Immigrant Architects Coalition and a contributing author to the recently published City Shapers: Stories of Immigrant Designers (find it on Amazon for Kindle). She was also a third place finisher in the 2020-2021 ACSA/AISC Steel Design Student Competition Category II. Katya’s winning design was published in Modern Steel Construction magazine, November 2021 issue.

What have you spent 31 years working on? Building a family? Establishing a career? Perfecting your signature BBQ sauce?

We've been lucky enough to have Lori Reuter working as the heart of our office team for 31 of JRJ's 45 years. At a very young age (possibly 9?), Lori began her career with Jon R Jurgens & Associates, now JRJ Architects, LLC, on April 19, 1991.

Lori – thank you for putting such an effort into everything you do! You have been with us through thick and thin, and we couldn’t imagine JRJ without you. Thank You and Happy 31st Workaversary!
