Indiana Limestone Textures
Indiana limestone is available in a variety of surface textures and finishes, applied at the end of the fabrication process according to your project specifications. Reach out if you have questions about available or custom textures for your job.
🔘Machine Tooled: Parallel, concave grooves cut into the face of the stone, available in four, six, or eight grooves to the inch. This finish is used primarily on ashlar surfaces.
🔘Rock Face: A bold, convex projection dressed by hand or machine, giving the stone a more massive appearance than split face.
🔘Sandblasted: A texture commonly used to match new limestone to older stone on restoration projects, though it works just as well on new commercial and residential installations.
🔘Smooth: The least textural of the standard finishes, with minimal surface interruption. You may also see it called planer, honed, grinder, machine, bugged, or circular sanded.
🔘Split Faced: A rough, uneven, concave-convex finish that creates strong light and shadow contrast. It's a popular choice for both interior and exterior surfaces where you want to emphasize horizontal lines and a massive look.
🔘Tumbled Stone: A gentle tumbling process that gives every stone an individualized, weathered character, popular with both residential and commercial customers.
