The foundation of Verdant Pastures grows from plants original to this property — a fragrant purple Lilac and Rose of Sharon planted by the original owners, Donald & Mildred Schneider, my grandparents, when they moved here in the 1970's.

Hi everyone — long time no update! 🌱
This growing season didn't go quite the way I'd planned — my full-time job ate into a lot of the time I'd hoped to give Verdant Pastures this year. But plants did get in the ground, and I learned a ton along the way.
One highlight: my Txorixero peppers (pronounced "cho-dee-share-dow") are coming in beautifully — a Basque variety with a 100-year family story, carried from Spain to Idaho and now growing here in Ohio.
I'll keep sharing photos as things bloom through the rest of the season, and I'm already looking ahead to giving it a proper shot next year. Thanks for sticking around!

🌻 A rainbow of sunflowers blooming at Verdant Pastures right now! 🌻
From classic golden yellow to deep burgundy, warm red-orange, and soft peachy-pink — this year's sunflower patch is putting on quite a show. Every bloom pulling in the bees and butterflies too! 🐝🌿

🌸 I find myself stopping to look at these lily trees every single day. Second year in the ground and already doing this!
And the smell... they perfume the whole yard. You can catch the fragrance before you even see them.
Beverly Dreams, Red Morning, Conca D'Or... and we've still got more varieties to open up. Can't wait to see what's next. 🌿

🌸 The lily trees are putting on a show at Verdant Pastures this summer! These stunning beauties grow 4-6 feet tall and produce the most incredible blooms — each one more breathtaking than the last.
We have ten varieties growing in just their second year, and they'll keep getting bigger and more impressive every season. We can't wait to see what's coming! 🌿

🐝 This common milkweed found its way into the garden from our pasture two years ago and just keeps getting bigger every season. It's a monarch butterfly host plant, and the bees, bumblebees, and butterflies have noticed too — this thing is buzzing nonstop.
Sometimes the best things in the garden aren't the ones we planned. They just show up, dig in, and multiply. 🌿💗

The irises are putting on a show at Verdant Pastures! 🌸 These beauties were planted just a couple of years ago — bearded irises establish fast and reward you quickly with a stunning display. Reblooming varieties in peach, white, purple, and bicolor. Divisions will be available this August — follow us to be notified when they're ready!
