This woman's work is always endearing and touching.

Is anyone else wishing they could sail away for a year and a day? And dance by the light of the moon (the moon, the moon). Today’s post was meant to be about all the cats I’ve made, but setting up this photo was irresistible.
There is a cat line-up photo in comments, they are around 7” tall, cost £18+p&p and are close relations of my bears, judging by their expressions.
🦉All cats and owls are now sold 🐈

found this on Woodland Indian Educational Programs who said "A lovely coloring page featuring a Jingle Dress dancer (14 year old Animikiikwe) shared by the Great Lakes Indian & Wildlife Commission (by artist Jamey Penney-Ritter). Did you know this now popular powwow dance originated as a healing dance among the Anishinaabe, a Woodlands People? According to a couple traditions, the Jingle Dress Dance came about due to a vision in response to a girl’s illness. This is why many who wear the Jingle Dress dance to heal - their dance is considered prayer,… though the Jingle Dress Dance may be more widely known as a popular powwow dance category that dancers can place in. If your children are not familiar with the Jingle Dress Dance, this coloring page may be both a playful activity and a great learning opportunity! Challenge the kiddies to look up and answer these few questions: 1. In what Great Lakes Nation/Tribe did Jingle Dress dance originate? 2. There are a few communities of this Nation whose histories include the origin of this dance... Name at least one of these specific communities the dance originates with. 3. In what state is this community located? 4. About how many years ago did this dance come to be?"

Jingle Dancer Coloring Sheet

This Jingle Dancer coloring sheet was created by Jamey Penney-Ritter of Bemused Design & Photography, Washburn, Wisconsin. It features Animikiikwe "Thunderbird Woman" of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Ojibwe, a fierce 14-year old who's already planning to get her law degree at an Ivy League school.

To save this free sheet, click on the picture, select "Options" from the bottom menu, and then click "Download." Or click on the picture, then right-click and "Save As."

Jamey has six of these in her Regalia Series, including Fancy Shawl, Traditional Men's and Women's, Grass Dancer, and Old Time Men's. We will be sure to share more as she posts them!

Making stuff with what may be found at home: here it is toilet paper tubes, cardboard from cracker/cereal boxes, oatmeal tubs, magazines/calendars, yarn made from old tee shirts. Home with young ones? Set up a few of these supplies and make a thing or two with them. Next have them search the house for more stuff at home that could be converted to craft. Maybe a way to get some closets or areas spring cleaned. Talk about why to keep and why to turn some of the possibilities found into craft material. Just ideas. Could be adjusted for other ages too. What are you doing if self-isolating your family or on enforced leave from school or work?

Back in January 2020 posted this and several other ideas for hands on activities to interest young children- on my old business page.

for some pre-school to young school age - box with paper, cardboard and fabric bits and ends that can be used to build and make and play creatively
