If you operate a car wash, this is something to pay close attention to.
This door system (and building!) experienced a complete structural failure as a result of years of corrosion.
We see corrosion at this level more often in states that use road salt to keep ice off the roads.
Here's what happens: As you pull a vehicle into the bay, the underbody wash kicks in. It sprays all of the dirt, debris, road salt, and other nasty contaminants off the vehicle... directly onto your door system.
When this happens, it seems into every possible exposed steel surface in your building and slowly begins rotting it away. Unfortunately, by the time you notice it the damage is done.
It's the main reason we started producing stainless steel solutions for the car wash industry many years ago.
Stainless track and face hardware doesn't rot away like the components in these photos.
In fact, if you look closely you'll notice this customer purchased our stainless steel bearing plates and face hardware at some point. They also have our stainless rollers installed!
Other than being grimy from the wash bay, they are in good shape with plenty of life left.
Unfortunately, stainless track was not chosen for this project. You can see where the water was pooling up on the track and rotted the bottom of it away. Other steel inside the building suffered from the same corrosion.
Prevent this from happening to your wash, explore our stainless steel solutions today.
