I grew up gardening and earned a Master's degree in Horticulture from Penn State specializing in native plants (I authored the Native Plant chapter for the award-winning Penn State Extension Master Gardener Manual: https://extension.psu.edu/master-gardener-manual) and have presented to Master Gardeners and garden clubs in PA, VA, NC. I'm also committed to continuing education and well-versed in Central Oregon native plants (took COCC course by Rick Martinson of Winter Creek Nursery and independent study for the past 14 years).

Client is "ECSTATIC!" 🥰 Loves the design, the different "rooms," plant choices (preventing erosion, deer proof, low maintenance, color, pollinators, low water). Wonderful client asked if she could take my picture with my masterpiece! 🥰 For some reason I can't add captions to the photos? First image is of the full sun garden that had row upon row of various plants which we rearranged into drifts of plants instead of rows. We also added a wider variety of plants (from Madras Garden Depot of course!), all of which are very deer resistant because Awbrey Butte has INTENSE deer pressure. Also using lots of native creeping oregon grape for soil stabilization and bees. 💛🐝 Plus tall Oregon grape for for screening.
The other photos show the beds after installation, including a shade bed with rhododendrons and hellebores. We added compost and mycorrhizae to the very dead, compacted soil for the plants that needed it. VERY excited to see how this fills in after Rexius takes care of the irrigation overhaul.
