There’s change afoot along the tracks near us: lots of construction work as the train tracks are expanded, a lot of trees are slated for removal. The good news? They budgeted for replanting, using natives, so hopefully that will all go smoothly. These big Monterey pines have lent an iconic backdrop for sunsets, but as many of you may know, they tend to fall apart after about 80-90 years.
Waterside Workshops is applying for grant money to do the replanting, which is another Berkeleyside story.
I’m not looking forward to all the noise and change but putting in new plantings will be cool to see. See link below for more info.
