I am very please to announce this achievement. Two of my paintings were selected and have been made into banners for the North Berkeley neighborhood (my neighborhood) with the help of . The banners that feature my artwork are located on Shattuck Ave. between Francisco and Virginia streets. Would you like to see the banners in person and meet the artists that created them? On April 26th at 3pm starting at there will be a walking tour highlighting the artists and their artwork on the banners.
When banners are artisan-made rather than mass-produced, they highlight the role of local makers in that community. This strengthens the neighborhood’s creative economy and communicates that artistic labor is valued in that community. I’m proud to be one of the artists selected to highlight the creative richness that in our North Berkeley community.

*New Painting* Title: Pinus Saxicolous
Pinus: Pine tree
Saxicolous: Growing in or on rock crevices. This painting renders the cast shadow of a sugar pine tree (Pinus lambertiana). The tree’s cast shadow has been shaped by alpine conditions. It has adapted to life within a narrow rock crevice at an elevation of 6,000 feet, its form altered by the environment it grows in. Despite these constraints and lack of soil, it endures.
This tree embodies nature’s will to survive in the most unforgiving terrain. The shadow conveys a narrative of growth under suboptimal conditions, its stature diminished in scale, yet resolute in presence. The delicate, contorted silhouette of the sugar pine inspired me to render its miniaturized form, allowing its beauty to be shared with the viewer.
This painting among others will be available for viewing and purchase at Faultline Gallery, 3908 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland, CA
