The years crop of baby rabbits are growing quickly, just as fast as some of the flowers are disappearing!

Spring seems a long way away. We had early snows in November- about 10” total - quite unusual. The firewood was stacked just in time. The things you do for cats.

Before anyone shouts ”don’t pile up firewood beside the house - you’ll get termites”. Well, true, if it’s in contact with the ground. It’s a very bad idea. But these are on decking above a void which we treat for ants and termites. It is dry all winter and the front porch is easy to get to even in the worst snow. Plus it provides a little more insulation for the house.

We have had a long succession of feral cats at SPG. In winter we feed and house them in the garage. In return they leave presents for us doing their job. Ruthie is our current resident cat. The best one was Barney BarnCat.

It’s been too long since I’ve posted anything. I’ll try and do more this winter, remembering summers past.

First big frost. Grass has gone from green to grey which means Spring can't be far away (can it?)
