We don't always move things around when designing a new kitchen. Even if we choose to keep something in the same (or approximate) location, there are typically many improvements opportunities for the new design. In this kitchen project, we removed the wing wall by the refrigerator. Not only does this look better in terms of visually around the refrigerator, it gives the customer a few additional inches of cabinetry. Removing the soffit and taking the cabinetry to the ceiling also has a pretty good effect on the aesthetics (and more storage). We also got rid of the dropped 'desk in the kitchen' area. I wasn't designing kitchens when this fad was popular (and I don't quite understand how it did become so popular because I have yet to meet someone who has ever used it), but I sure take a lot of them out. :)

As part of our last project with we replaced a casement window with a picture window. It is amazing how much cleaner a look it is to eliminate the framing members. It really brings the outdoors into the customer's new kitchen!
