Torsion springs will break. Maybe yours have and you haven't noticed it because your opener still opens and closes normally. When a spring breaks, your opener is doing more work than it should which could cause damage to your opener if your springs aren't replaced. Be sure to check your springs every so often to ensure that your door is still working as it should to keep your openers work load to a minimum.
