Due to the very light and warm winter we have noticed trees going into the hottest part of the growing season drought stressed.

Billings may have enjoyed the mild winter… but our trees didn’t.

Minimal snow cover and low winter humidity can cause conifers to dry out over the winter — especially spruce trees. This type of stress often shows up in spring as red, yellow, or brown needles, usually starting at the tips and most noticeable on the south and southwest sides of the tree.

With so little snowpack this year, many trees are heading into summer already stressed before the heat even arrives.

One of the best ways to help protect your trees is to water deeply during dry periods throughout the growing season and into the fall.

Evan has been with CM for a little over a year now and has been a huge asset to our crew. For a young man who started out as a groundie, to now rapidly advancing into climbing, aerial lift operations, and our plant healthcare department, Evan has continued to excel in all areas of CM Tree.
