Railing repair finale. Balusters were stained and cut off site. I tore out the remaining balusters that were a different style and installed the new ones. Those with sharp eyes may have noticed one baluster does not match the others. With the customer's approval, one of the balusters was installed upside down to keep The Devil away. Thanks to Julie and Steve for being great customers and to that scruffy foreman that kept a very close eye on my work.

Railing repair part three. The floor had to be trimmed for the new newel post anchors and trim kit. Was very happy with the quality and strength gained from this kit. Many finish nails and some wood glue later and the upper railing is installed. Much stronger and a cleaner look with matching balusters. I believe I passed inspection from the scruffy foreman.

Railing repair part two. Upper railing needed complete tear down to repair some split pieces and replace and tighten other parts. The two existing different style balusters matched the replacement balusters so we saved a little money there. Stained and partially pre-assembled the railing off site to save on intrusion time. Used a newel post anchor kit that comes with a trim that covers the brackets. Trim pieces were also stained. The bottom piece of the railing and some of the flooring were trimmed to provide space for the new newel post brackets and trim.

Stair railing repair. The upper railing had been patched up at one point in its life. Exposed screws around the base in an attempt to strengthen the newel post were unsuccessful. Upper railing was quite loose and dangerous. It also had mismatched balusters. The lower railing was still strong, but missing balusters and the the remaining balusters needed replaced to match upper railing.

Customer wanted a custom display wall built that included room for a mini fridge and the ability for partial removal to access the wall behind on occasion. I custom designed piece for her needs. Cut all pieces and then assembled them with wood glue and nails. All nail holes were pre-drilled to keep the wood from splitting. Center top section is removable for wall access.

This was a pool house double door where just the bottom of the metal outer skins were rusted through. The rest of the doors were solid. We priced out new pre-hung custom replacement doors at over $1500. So instead, cut off the rusted area and replaced it with 1/8" aluminum diamond plate as a kick plate.

Quick job on a lower roof. The rain gutter was sagging and falling off. Replaced rotten wood under gutter, covered wood with rubber flashing, installed new drop edge and straightened the old gutter. I always try to find the most economical, yet correctly done option.

Completed project
Brick entry stairs at front and rear door were loose and not practical as the lower step was only 8 or so inches deep. It was a real tripping hazard. I removed the bricks. Built new framework and covered it with Timbertech composite decking. The grabrail is aluminum core with pvc cover for strength.

This was a customer who had a few small projects for me which included hanging some window blinds, changing a door handle/lock set and removing old and resealing a couple bathtub joints. Unfortunately I only took pictures of one of the tub projects post work done.
