A lot of people think of gravel as a last resort, but it is actually one of the most versatile materials we carry. It handles drainage problems that nothing else solves as cleanly, holds up under foot traffic without breaking down, and stays looking sharp through Alabama's summer rain cycles without turning into a muddy mess.

Use it to cover a soggy low spot near the patio, line a walkway, define a garden border, or fill in a high-traffic area that grass just will not hold. It is low maintenance once it is down and a fraction of the cost of hardscaping alternatives.

Laying new sod this summer? Sod staples are what keep everything locked in place while the roots establish. They work just as well for securing landscape fabric and holding irrigation lines in position. At $0.10 each, it is easy to use them generously and not have to worry about edges lifting or shifting after a good rain.

We have them in stock. Call us at 📲 205-775-8746 or stop by to grab what you need before your next project!

Most people pack straw away after spring and do not think about it again until fall. A layer over bare soil or freshly laid sod does a lot of quiet work in summer heat, though: it holds moisture in, keeps surface temperatures down, and breaks down gradually to improve the soil underneath.

We have it in stock and ready for pickup. Contact us at 📲 205-775-8746 or order online at https://www.southdallasturfandsupply.com/products/straw/

Both Bermuda and Zoysia are solid warm-season grasses, but they behave a little differently when the temperature climbs. Bermuda is aggressive, bounces back quickly from foot traffic, and thrives in full sun. If you have kids, pets, or a yard that gets a lot of use, it tends to handle the wear well.

Zoysia grows a bit slower and stays greener longer into the fall. It tolerates some shade better than Bermuda and has a thicker, denser feel underfoot. Both are solid choices for the Birmingham area. The right pick usually comes down to how much sun your yard gets and how you use the space.

Summer heat is tough on your landscape. Mulch helps keep soil moisture in, soil temperature down, and weeds out. That's a lot of work for one material, and it's why it's one of the most cost-effective investments you can make in your yard.

We carry bulk mulch in multiple varieties so you can find the right look and performance for your beds. Pick it up or ask about delivery. Call 📲 205-775-8746 or order online at southdallasturfandsupply.com/products/mulch/

Did you know the three numbers on a fertilizer bag tell you exactly what's inside? They represent the percentage of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the mix.

Each one does something specific:
🌿 Nitrogen drives green, leafy growth.
🌱 Phosphorus supports root development.
💪 Potassium builds overall plant strength and stress resistance.

For a warm-season lawn in May, a nitrogen-forward fertilizer is typically what you need. Browse our fertilizer options at southdallasturfandsupply.com/products/fertilizer/ or call us at 📲 205-775-8746.

Your yard is your dog's whole world. A healthy lawn without harsh chemicals, soft grass to run on, and shady spots to cool down in makes all the difference for a happy, safe pet.

If you've got a dog who's hard on grass, Bermuda and Zoysia are both tough, fast-recovering varieties that can handle the traffic. And if you're dealing with worn patches, fresh sod can have those spots looking great again in no time.

Give us a call at 📲 205-775-8746 to talk through the best options for your yard.

As temperatures climb through May, how you water matters as much as how often. The best time is early morning, before 9 a.m., so the water reaches the roots before the heat evaporates it. Watering in the evening leaves grass damp overnight, which can invite fungal problems.

Deep, infrequent watering also encourages roots to grow deeper, making your lawn more drought-tolerant later in the season. Aim for about an inch of water per week, including rainfall.
