In most kitchen renovations, the client expresses desires for an expanded storage and workspace. It seems almost cliched at this point to suggest removing walls but here it is the perfect solution when the home has another dedicated living space. Light pours in from French doors and a long counter creates work zones and invites more family to share in cooking and entertaining.

The ultimate immersive space for an audiophile, the listening room. If ever there was a room with a vibe, it would be this one. Creating this space was a lesson in the audio experience. Space planning with special attention for perfection in listening, sound proofing, custom built-ins to showcase a vast audio collection, and quality speaker configurations, were all considered along side the design aesthetic. What an education this project provided!

Snapshots of Christmas. Switching things up from year to year is a challenge I always welcome, even if it takes extra time. This year, a first for the decorating around the mural in the foyer, found the tacky tinsel tree temporarily homeless. It had always found a spot in the foyer, but it didn’t feel right. Thankfully the dark tones in the bedroom easily accept with a mix of silver and gold and it ended up there. For the living room, rich burgundy and gold became the base and all our treasures from travels and cherished mementos added in the charm that brings my heart so much joy. The Country House Kitchen. I promised myself I was going to hold onto the full reveal a little longer. This kitchen feels like fall to me and I would like publish more of the rooms in a portfolio form on the blog.

However, the first photo shoot of the kitchen here was a personal and professional victory for me and felt worth sharing.

I came into the project at the stage you see in the next slide, a new construction with no direction. Little did I know what I was getting myself into when I agreed to this project. To say it was full of challenges and delays, far out of my control, would be an understatement.

I was confident in the vision and design plan I developed for the home. I knew, maybe stubbornly, the end result would be worth all of the frustrations. A colleague came along with me for the shoot. She assured me it was worth seeing the vision to fruition and the glow in the eyes of the homeowners when they saw it styled for the shoot.

I can not wait to share more soon! I hope to return next week to photograph the main bathroom.

With most of my spare time devoted to the cut flower garden and plantings, I just recently transitioned the living room from spring to summer. The styling is not far off the blue and white look I adored last summer. But of course, I’ve added to my blue and white collection since last year and used different indoor plants to switch things up.

This is not real life. Sadly, this is wishful thinking. While the weather is nice enough to enjoy a morning like this. The back patio is still covered with pollen, but I am hopeful we are nearing the end. I keep washing off just one glass table as a barometer. When it fails to get recoated in pollen it is time to give everything a good hose down and wash.

It feels like the pollen was particularly heavy this year. Do you agree? Or do I just forget how bad it is each year?
