A legacy reimagined.

In 1996, the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club began a new chapter, replacing its original farmhouse clubhouse with a building rooted in continuity. The Ring Room and indoor riding arena remained, anchoring a composition that carries the club’s history forward.

The new clubhouse was designed to reflect the traditions of the sport and the character of the grounds, where gathering spaces, materials, and proportion draw from a long-standing equestrian heritage.

Decades later, it continues to serve as a place of ritual and community, shaped by memory and built for what comes next.

Main North Lofts Royal Oak brings a disciplined composition of brick, glass, and rhythm to a full city block, drawing from the character of early industrial buildings while accommodating the demands of contemporary urban living.

Residential, retail, and workplace environments are layered vertically, with private balconies and expansive glazing extending life beyond the façade and into the city.

Nearly two decades later, the building continues to anchor North Main Street, a lasting contribution to the evolving fabric of Royal Oak.

The Shark Tank building and clubhouse renovations establish continuity across the The Birmingham Athletic Club, where warm wood, open structure, and layered transparency support both activity and pause. Spaces are calibrated for movement, gathering, and everyday ritual, from poolside to fitness to dining.

That evolution continues this summer with a new tiki bar, updated terrace, and expanded pickleball courts, extending the club’s experience into the landscape.

Set along the shoreline of Torch Lake, the house is composed as a series of quiet volumes, calibrated to light, view, and terrain.

A restrained palette of low maintenance materials, including painted vertical board and batten siding, stone, and metal roofing, establishes continuity between exterior and interior, where open living spaces frame the water beyond. Moments of compression and release guide movement through the home, balancing gathering with retreat.

Detailed yet understated, the architecture is shaped by its setting, allowing landscape and horizon to remain the focal point.

Opened last week, the space reflects an ongoing collaboration and a continued evolution of the Plum Market experience.

Originally conceived as an expansion of the The Townsend Hotel , this work reflects a commitment to proportion, material richness, and the quiet refinement that defines the guest experience. Crafted millwork, layered interiors, and classical detailing come together to create spaces that feel both enduring and immediate.

That dialogue continues today. A new Rugby Grille and bar, now under construction, builds on this foundation—extending the life of the hotel through thoughtful evolution and renewed gathering spaces.
