1. Frost protection – Creates an 8–10" buffer between the floor and exterior wall, blocking cold air from reaching the base of the floor.

2. Better insulation – The trough-style design allows insulation to extend below the floor, keeping more cold out.

3. Allows the floor to free-float – As lumber dries and shrinks, the floor can move naturally without pulling on the slab and causing additional cracks.

4. Stronger wall base – Prevents bows or inward curves that can cause ripples or oil canning in the panels and trims.

5.Cleaner interior finish – Provides a sealed base to attach interior materials and keeps cold air from entering at the edges of the slab.
