Summer brings out the door-to-door paving crews.
Some are legitimate. Some are not.
If someone knocks on your door offering a deal on driveway work, watch for these red flags before you agree to anything:
π© Deep discounts on leftover materials from "another job nearby." They pave part of your driveway, run out, promise to come back, and never do.
π© Cash only, upfront. Legitimate contractors accept checks, credit cards, and cash. If they won't take a check, ask yourself why.
π© Out-of-state license plates. Scammers move from town to town. A local contractor has spent years building trust in the community.
π© No business card, no phone number, no website. If they won't give you contact information, it's because they don't plan on being reachable later.
With asphalt work, you get what you pay for.
The cheapest quote often turns into the most expensive mistake.
