“Alayna’s Walk”
A Tribute Commission by Jeniece Shackelford
This piece was created in loving memory of Alayna Christine Gossan Cracco, a kind soul who began each day walking the beach at sunrise with her loyal “human” dog, Luna Tuna and her treasure, Fabio Cracco. Alayna was known not only for these peaceful rituals but also for quietly caring for the shoreline, picking up debris, honoring the land, and embracing the beauty of each dawn.
In this tribute, a radiant sky gives way to flourishing, surreal waves, intentionally moving in unexpected directions. The ocean doesn’t behave as it should; instead, it responds as if aware of her spirit, welcoming her presence and cradling her gently in its embrace. If you look closely, you’ll find Alayna peacefully at rest within the central crest of the wave.
At the bottom of the painting, Luna’s paw prints are pressed into the sand, a quiet, tender reminder of their daily walks and the love they shared.
This work is not only a memorial, but a celebration of a life that moved with purpose, left gentle imprints, and stirred the world, even the sea.
