I'm a wife of almost 18 yrs to Brian and a mother to 6 wonderful kids ages 14-4. Over the past few years, I have made it my hobby and passion to revitalize our backyard landscape into a diverse, edible landscape. I want my children to have access to homegrown fruits and vegetables while also knowing what it takes to get them! I also enjoy sharing this passion with friends and family when they came
over by giving a quick "tour" of our city lot backyard. Currently, we have peach, apricot, aprium, 2 pear and 3 apple trees, 9 blueberry bushes, 2 grape vines, 100+ strawberry plants, rhubarb, and raspberry and blackberry bushes. This last summer, we added a greenhouse where I have tinkered with tropical plants such as dragonfruit, turmeric, lemongrass, dwarf bananas and even coffee. I love the not so common or a not so common variety of edibles - Pink Lemonade Blueberries or Pineberry Strawberries, anyone? The colors available to us go way beyond the orange carrot or the red tomato! I decided to take this to the next level and help those in the Boise area to make their yard a place that they want to be and one that gives back to the owner! Whether it be a patio or balcony, incorporating edibles into your existing landscape, adding a one or many raised beds, or completely redoing your existing garden space, you can harvest a plentiful and diverse bounty! My philosophy is: If you have to water it, it should give you something back. I have successfully incorporated the intensive and companion planting methods to get even more out of our space. I am organic method minded, so that's where my recommendations and ideas will be coming from. If you have a space that you aren't quite sure what to do with or if you feel like you aren't getting the most of our a space, contact me and I'm happy to come out and give you some pointers and plans.
