One of our 2025 design projects, Pet Haven’s new 4,000 sf location is making great construction progress!

Originally a farmers market in the 1990s and more recently a daycare, this reuse building project will offer expanded cat rescue services to the community. A new public adoption floor with cat apartments and free roam rooms will be the perfect place to meet adoptable cats. A large community room will be available for educational and fundraising events. The medical floor includes dedicated examination, treatment and surgery rooms for feline health services. Repurposing an exterior refrigerated walk-in cooler and refurbishing a large commercial sink were a couple of our favorite challenges. Serving their community since the 1970s, hopes to continue another 50 years in their new home, coming summer 2026!

A huge shoutout to Empower Engineering, Calzacorta Design, Vector Structural Engineers, Farris Consultants and Barnes Construction for an expertly executed remodel!

Reflecting on a wonderful 3rd year of Archwood Studio, I can’t help but feel immense gratitude for the collaboration, connection and creativity of the year.

In 2024, Archwood Studio saw our first commercial projects completed, the continuing of life safety design consulting, and a couple small residential projects, all as my husband and I welcomed our first kiddo this spring!

I didn’t know what motherhood and architecture would look like this year, with a big learning curve in multiple areas of life. Looking back, I’m grateful for the amazing support of colleagues and clients. And optimistic for a great 3rd year in business going into 2025!

What a pleasure it was to visit this project in person today. The hospital is making excellent progress under the amazing care of Hawkline Builders. A complex interior program is housed within the calm, bright and clean exterior, with plenty of detail work and connection to green open space. I’m excited to see the finishing touches come together for their grand opening!

After a joyous holiday season and settling into the new year, I’m happy to mark the 1st anniversary of Archwood Studio!

Archwood Studio was started in fall of 2022 while I completed architect licensing requirements. A couple months later, I had my first contract and jumped right into work January 2023! It was an amazing year working with a variety of clients and consultants on commercial and federal projects. I’m so grateful for the connections and experiences of being a business owner, and look forward to many more!

The Rising Sun Animal Sun Animal Hospital was approved for a Conditional Use Permit this evening! This project brings a much needed community amenity to the underdeveloped commercial district. We also received our Design Review approval and are excited to start construction documents!

My first project! The Rising Sun Animal Hospital will be reviewed by the Nampa Planning committee at city hall next week! We programmed 2,750 SF of clinic and hospital services in this ground up project to serve the Lake Lowell neighborhood and it’s furry friends. The new building will be on an anchoring corner lot of the Fall River West Master Plan and designed with cost, HOA and master plan in mind.

Hello! Last fall, I started this page as motivation to begin my business Archwood Studio LLC. All these months later, please allow me to properly introduce myself!

My name is Katherine. Those who know me best call me Katie 😊 The pup in the pic is a 2-yr old Aussiedoodle named Toby, who is the best coworker. I have spent the last 20 years immersed in design, architecture, exploring, traveling, obsessed with plants and enjoying the little things in life.

Growing up in a creative household with a contractor father and an artistic mother, it was only natural for me to pick up design. Fast forward, my career has spanned three firms, three degrees and a variety of commercial retail, food service, businesses, custom residential, federal and water facilities projects.

In 2022, I took the leap to work for myself, stepping away from the traditional work setting to rest and reassess. During that time, I obtained my architect’s license in Idaho and set up shop.

My absolute favorite thing about architecture is how our built environment connects communities and makes individuals’ dreams come true. (Okay, that’s 2 things 😉) The work we do as architects, designers, and builders is literally life changing and can be for everybody!
