Growing tip #1- Soil is super important to vegetables.
If planting in pots try to go with an organic potting soil. Or make your own. Walmart sells organic topsoil amendments full of nutrients for your plants to absorb over time. Just add recommended amounts to top of soil, massage in and water. It’s that easy to make sure your plants stay healthy and happy.
If growing outdoors we like to go with a 60-70% topsoil, 20-30%compost and 10% perlite or vermiculite.
Believe it or not. The ph of your soil is just as important in pots or gardens and super easy to fix if you have a ph soil tester. Most vegetables like a ph of 6.0-7.0, and the best range in the middle around 6.5. To raise your soils ph, simply add eggshells. To lower ph in soil add some coffee and water and recheck your soils ph. Ph below 6.0 is to acidic for most vegetables to thrive.
