Meet Abigail Clothier, our Landscape Architecture Intern! 🌿
As Abigail wraps up her summer with Knickerbocker Group and prepares to return to the University of Virginia, where she's pursuing her Master of Landscape Architecture, we're taking a moment to celebrate her time with KG-LA.
Abigail 's interest in landscape architecture was sparked by time spent at her grandparents' cabin in Rangeley, Maine. With a background in both Environmental Science and Sculpture from Colby College, she found landscape architecture to be the perfect intersection of design, science, and creative problem-solving.
This summer, Abigail has experienced firsthand the collaboration that goes into design-build—from early morning plant placement with Sig to trekking through the woods in Boothbay with Kerry and Gretchen to consider cabin siting. She's also enjoyed the little things that make KG, KG: Peter's 3:45 song of the day and a Portland Hearts of Pine game with the KG-LA team included!
One of her biggest takeaways from the summer? The importance of the people you work alongside.
“The people and my KG-LA team really showed me how much it matters that you enjoy who you work with. Having a group that collaborates well makes communication easier so great projects happen.”
Next up, Abigail is headed back to UVA, where she's looking forward to bringing some real-world project and construction insight into her schoolwork—and apparently getting a few redlines from Gretchen along the way. 😉
And one thing you might not know about Abigail? She's been fly fishing since she was little! 🎣
