The customer was fantastic to work with, even though the township made this one of our most challenging installs to date.

In the end, it turned out great—and the neighbor's kids provided top-tier quality control while supervising the whole process (they were big fans of the mini skid steer!).

🪵⛏️ YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT’S HIDING UNDER THE TOPSOIL!

While setting posts on a job recently, we unearthed ANOTHER BOTTLE — making 5 total this month across just 2 job sites! 🤯

And the crazy part? In 40 years, I’ve only ever found 2 other intact bottles!

This one is an awesome antique green-glass beer bottle, and the glass itself gives us some pretty cool clues about its history:

🍺 The Brewery: It’s embossed with “PHILA.” and “NACHOD” on the shoulder, pointing to the historic Class & Nachod Brewing Co. in North Philadelphia.

📜 The Era (~1913–1919): The bottle is marked “CONTENTS 12 1/2 FLUID OUNCES,” a marking consistent with bottles from the early 1900s. Class & Nachod was gone by the time Prohibition took effect in 1920, putting this bottle firmly in the pre-Prohibition era.

⚙️ The Machine Mark: There’s also a “6” molded near the bottom edge, likely identifying the mold/cavity used to manufacture the bottle.

So while we come out to build strong, custom fences, getting an unexpected little history lesson every time we dig is easily one of the coolest perks of the job.

Just think… someone drank this beer right here more than 100 years ago. 🍺🤯

Meet my newest helper! 🐾❤️
(She needs a name!)

Unfortunately, I seem to have some sort of magnetic attraction when it comes to kittens! 😂

For the last 5 years, we’ve ended up finding and catching anywhere from 4–10 kittens every year. We get them fixed, ear-tipped, and release them if we can’t find them a home.

This little girl has a brother, and unfortunately, Mom is still nursing both of them.

Once they’re weaned, I’m going to scoop them up and get them sterilized, flea-treated, vaccinated, and checked out by a vet. 🐱❤️

Is anyone interested in giving these two kittens AND Momma a loving indoor home? 🏠🐾

Mom is an absolute sweetheart. She climbs up on me while I’m working on equipment, jumps into my pickup when I get off work, and is just incredibly friendly.

Unfortunately, the kittens currently have fleas, and Momma appears to have worms, etc. They definitely need some TLC, but we’re going to get them taken care of and healthy.

If anyone is interested in adopting them—or knows someone who might be—please reach out! ❤️

Unearthing a piece of local history in Philadelphia today!

We pulled this vintage 1915–1920 condiment/ketchup bottle straight out of the ground on a fence installation job site in historic Germantown.

That’s five 100+ year-old bottles unearthed this week alone! 🍾

Its digs like this are just one of the cool parts of building custom fences across PA!
