Gettliffe Architecture Sustainable architecture, motivated by people and the planet, for Boulder, Colorado and beyond. http://gettliffe.com/

At Gettliffe Architecture, our multicultural team of architects specializes in sustainable designs that foster positive human interaction and a closer connection with nature. For over 30 years we have collaborated with clients locally and across the globe to bring creativity and inspiration to the design process – all within a context of social and ecological responsibility. We embrace architectur

e as a celebration of identity and purpose that moves beyond function to uplift the human spirit. Each design we create is shaped by how people will live, work and play in a space, and is also a creatively crafted response to the surrounding land, culture, climate and natural light. When these elements find harmony in a single structure, a sense of wonder and life as an artful experience emerges. Based in Boulder, Colorado, we offer sustainable architectural design from private residences to eco lodges and community projects. Our current projects include a local, sustainable organic farm, a passive solar straw bale getaway in the mountains of Southern Colorado, and a community center for climate change in Nicaragua. We would love to collaborate with you on your next project.

When design harmonizes land, light and climate with how people will live, work and play within the architecture, a sense of wonder emerges and life becomes an artful experience.

Juicy Berry Farm, a 12 acre permaculture farm and residence, is built into the highest point of a bluff, overlooking a gentle slope leading down to Boulder Creek. Intended as an extension of the landscape, the design of the home emphasizes simplicity and fluidity, and offers an evocation of earth elements. A series of thin indoor/outdoor walls segment the home to orient specific views of the land, channeling flow to the outdoors.

Located on the eastern slope of Sugarloaf Mountain outside of Boulder, Colorado, this project was inspired by the unique climbing culture prevalent throughout Boulder's canyons, a community of which the client is an enthusiastic member. Simplicity, efficiency and clarity were the governing design parameters for this project.
