A golden ratio grid maps harmony across the head — a framework humans have long used to understand balance and beauty. Yet within that order, an organic interruption appears. A moment that cannot be measured, only discovered.

Carved from a single ash tree removed due to emerald ash borer, this work holds both loss and continuation. The tree’s forced removal becomes the origin of a new function—one that invites the body to engage, rotate, and become aware of time and presence.

The form is not imposed but revealed. Each cut follows the internal logic of the wood grain, allowing the material to guide the final structure. Movement is integral: the chair turns, the viewer shifts, perception changes.

Activate exists between sculpture and use—where an object is not only seen, but entered, occupied, and experienced.

Wood? Wood negotiates🍃

🪾This old ash tree lived a long life before falling to the Emerald Ash Borer — a tiny beetle with a big appetite and no respect for legacy. But even in death, this tree wasn’t done talking. You start sanding, and suddenly it’s like:
“Hey. That crack? Leave it. That curve? Follow it.”

And I do. Because at some point, the wood stops being material and starts being a co-creator.

This soon-to-be table is nearly ready for delivery. Yes, the owner may dance on it — permission granted by both the maker and the tree.
