Meet Donnie DeFraties, Director of Operations at United Electric!

Donnie has been with United Electric for 11 years, bringing years of experience, leadership, and hands-on electrical knowledge to the team. In addition to his operational role, Donnie also holds his electrical license, giving him a strong understanding of both the field and the bigger picture of how projects come together.

What Donnie enjoys most about being part of the United Electric team is the shared sense of purpose. “We’re all moving in the same direction toward a shared goal,” he says. “It’s not a bunch of individuals doing their own thing — we’re working together as one team.”

One of the things Donnie values most about United Electric is the opportunity for growth. Whether someone wants to advance their technical skills, become licensed, or move into a leadership position, he appreciates that the company supports those paths.

His advice for someone starting in the electrical field? Don’t overcomplicate it. “You don’t need a full-time day program to begin your career in this trade,” Donnie says. “Come in willing to work and learn, and you can build your experience in the field while going through a structured apprenticeship program.”

Outside of work, Donnie enjoys spending time with his kids, bass fishing in Central Florida from February through September, and hunting from September through January.

And here’s a fun fact: Donnie started playing piano when he was just 3 years old — and got pretty good at it! He may not play much these days, but the talent is still there.
