The OMB mason bee season has begun

04/27/2023

Finally our East Bremerton Orchard Mason Bee season has started in earnest. It took awhile, as we saw our first OMB male back on 3/13. Then the cold and wet weather hit us off and on until today 4/25. Video of one of our farming stations with male and female activity doing very well. Using the original Knox Cellars Mason Bee “WET SYSTEM MYLAR COATED CARDBOARD” thick tubes with paper liner inserts.
All clean; no mite infestations, no Houdini fly or Chalcid wasp maggots. Going to be a great 2023-24 year.

4/28/22 OMB baby larva
Just opened a Phragmites Reed to expose new OMB Larva. Great view to see the beauty of the work our OMB females perform. Sealed/Reassembled the tube and babies are now positioned vertically so that gravity will help keep them on the food source. This is what good farming can do to increase the population of our OMB’s into one’s backyard sanctuary.
