When your garden gives you (barely) two cherry tomatoes and a green bean, we do about the only thing we can with them. We turn them into smiles. 😁 Happy Saturday!

As expected, the worms are going bananas over watermelon rind. Love this slow decomposing, moisture filled food option!

This isn’t a party-bashing post. We lean republican. We’ve always leaned republican. But we’re not and never have been on board with the behavior of this president.

🪱 MEET OUR HARDEST WORKER! 🪱

If you don’t have worms in your garden, you’re missing out on one of nature’s greatest secrets.

While you’re sleeping, at work, or on vacation, worms are working 24/7 beneath the soil surface to build a healthier, more productive garden.

🌱 They Improve Soil Structure
Worm tunnels loosen compacted soil, allowing roots to grow deeper and stronger.

💧 They Increase Water Retention
Healthy worm populations help soil hold moisture longer while still draining properly.

🌿 They Unlock Nutrients
Worms convert organic matter into plant-available nutrients that crops can use immediately.

🦠 They Feed Beneficial Microbes
Every worm casting is loaded with beneficial biology that supports plant health and soil fertility.

🌻 They Grow Bigger, Healthier Plants
Stronger roots, greener foliage, more flowers, and larger harvests all start with healthier soil.

♻️ They Recycle Organic Waste
Kitchen scraps, leaves, and garden debris become valuable soil-building material instead of trash.

🚜 They Never Take a Day Off
No fuel. No electricity. No maintenance. Just nonstop soil improvement every day of the year.

✨ One healthy worm population can transform an ordinary garden bed into a living ecosystem that gets better every season.

Nature built the perfect gardener—and it has no hands, no feet, and no complaints.

🪱🌱🪱🌱🪱🌱

Do you have worms in your garden, or are you letting someone else do all the work?

Sweetcorn grown in a block of bare soil in the modern garden is a stripped-back version of a plant that evolved as part of one of the most sophisticated companion planting systems ever developed. Indigenous communities across the Americas grew corn, beans and squash together for thousands of years, not out of tradition for its own sake, but because the combination genuinely outperforms any of the three plants grown alone. If your sweetcorn is struggling with poor pollination, w**d pressure or hungry soil, you are probably missing the other two thirds of the system.
