Rust & Redemption is all about the hunt for old things and either preserving them in their natural state or repurposing them to be enjoyed again.This page is about those adventures and things that inspire us. Tuesday Tip of the Day: 🕷️🕸️ Be Patient

It’s that time of year, like it or not: spider season!

We’ve been in buildings, barns and basements a lot lately, and we have a new arachnid to add to our list of phobias—the highly invasive Joro spider.

Although it isn’t poisonous like the black widow or the brown recluse, it definitely isn’t a welcome sight. It goes after our pollinators, including butterflies and bees, and it is amazingly fast at building incredibly strong, three-dimensional webs.

Ask me how I know! 😳🕷️

So, when the excitement of unearthed treasures has your adrenaline pumping and you’re determined to get to those treasures first… be patient.

Go into those dark places second.

While the person who went first is wrapped up in a spiderweb, you can easily glide right on by.

Happy Thursday friends!!
We spent all day restocking and rearranging areas at Antique To***co Barn yesterday.

Can we just have a moment for the pig sign??
It’s 7ft long and 47” H, she’s a big porker!! I love the old hand painted menu, but my favorite is the sides, that category is called GO ALONGERS.

We took in the big handmade pine cabinet, where we have all our outdoorsy items. Our dogs and duck items have been selling really good and we found some really nice black and yellow labs with ducks.

Lots of beautiful vintage scarves that remind me a lot of when that was Dolly’s style to wear around her hair. Some great Crate & Barrell chairs and lots of smalls and artwork.

We’re taking another big load to the Antique To***co Barn today. We’ve been so busy I forgot to post last weeks load. Several thing are already sold including the Armed Forces sign, the Telegraph sign, the Kilim rug, one of the metal display cabinets, the round table, all the chairs and lots of smalls. I’m excited for this load, but I have no idea how we’re going to fit it all, but we’ll figure out when we get there.

Welcome back SEPTEMBER!!!
“I can see the light of a clear blue morning, I can see the light of a brand new day. Everything’s gonna be alright, it’s gonna be ok.”

I woke up this morning filled with lightness in my heart and ready for whatever this month brings. Then a friend sent me this picture of the latest Mtn Express annual BEST OF WNC addition, and just like the past 16 years the Antique To***co Barn is number 1. That’s an incredible accomplishment! And our booth was featured in the ad. That’s very humbling for us and after the month of hard work we’ve just endured it feels like a sign that, just like Dolly sang, we’re gonna be ok.

I’ve always loved Dolly, and admire many of her great qualities including all her musical accomplishments, proudly speaking out on her faith, her business sense, integrity and honesty and how she treated people based on the interviews I’ve read. We went through a stressful and rough time last year personally with my dad’s death and our son’s accident, and I had stepped away from helping where we had a booth. We decided to take off to get away for the weekend and went to Dolly’s DreamMore Resort. I bought this ornament there to remind me to always remember what’s really important, and to choose people who love and need us, like our 5 grandchildren. If you know us you know we are very involved with spending time with them.

With that being said, after 13 years we have chosen to no longer have a booth at Country Creations in Brevard NC.We wish them well and encourage you to go support all our friends that still have booths there. People have asked us what are you going to do now, and well, we really don’t know. And that’s ok. Of course we will be at the Antique To***co Barn but beyond that we don’t know. For right now we are just trying to regroup and get rested after all the working til the middle of the night over a very short period of time to get moved out. We really didn’t realize how much stuff we had in there until we started dismantling all of it.
But we may go open another booth sometime somewhere else, we may go in business with other dealers or we may end up deciding to stay with just one. We simply just need time to process.

But, goodness, September is starting off right nice. Now, bring on some cooler temps and everything will be just fine. 😎🍂🍁

Big sale the next two weeks at our booth at Country Creations. Select big items, some display items, all clothing and small items as well as all seasonal items. Look for red lined tags or colored tags. More sales tags will be added each day. Come shop with us!!!!

Today is “Barn Day”, and time for a restock. But I realized I never posted last Fridays restock 🤦🏼‍♀️. We took in an amazing table with leather chairs and bench. It lasted one day. So today we will be replacing it with a gorgeous gate leg table with 8 chairs we found in Georgia this week. And we will be restocking the lamps that have sold and lots of smalls.

It’s HOT , but goodness we were glad to see these mountains this evening. We’ve been hitting it hard today, and as much as I complain about our humidity up here, SC and Georgia are melting!!
It’s been a stressful week, but I think I’ve sweated my stress away! The flea market was decent for smalls this week.
One of our other pickin places faded out, but we’ve found some others. When one door closes….climb through the window 😂! We have to drive a lot farther but road trips are good for us in many ways, especially when there’s no cell service.
Somewhere in that last barn though are my favorite pair of reading glasses that I didn’t discover until
half way home.
