The 7-Day has pretty much everything you could ever want (or not want) in a weather forecast. It will be very chilly tomorrow and I would not be shocked to see a few passing flurries. We then ride the roller coaster up into early next week, with highs reaching the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday. I decided to hedge higher than modeled these days as we have a strong SW flow in early Spring and I believe we will see enough sun to allow those ground temps to really shoot up.

A strong cold front will move in by Wednesday afternoon, with the chance of downpours and thunderstorms. I will keep a close eye on this as we get closer.

Originally, it looked like the front would stall to our north late next week, but it now looks like it will stall over our area, leading to periods of rain Thursday as well as Friday to go along with MUCH COLDER TEMPS. This is nearly 40 degrees different than models showed a couple days ago.

Models are actually in decent agreement now for cold enough air for wintery mix across the interior late Friday into early Saturday morning. This is a ways away so additional edits are certainly possible, but wanted to highlight given significant forecast change and upcoming holiday weekend. I will have more updates!

Lots of school closings are rolling in! I think many may have been okay with an early dismissal today, but when it comes to ice, superintendents usually err on the side of caution. Here is your latest briefing for the system. The trend on modeling has been to keep cold air around a little longer, which can definitely happen this time year. It’s kind of one of those touch and go situations as far as road conditions this afternoon. would expect main roads and highways to stay mainly issue-free, but untreated surfaces could become slick!

SNOW TOTALS SO FAR.... We are continuing to see snowfall rates of about 1 to 2 inches per hour through the region. Schools are already starting to close across the region for Monday. Air temperatures have held steady at 5 to 10 degrees - very impressive!

Visibilities have decreased with treacherous driving reported, even by local emergency services and DOT. The worst of this storm will be through the next several hours.

GOOD MORNING! The wind kicked up last night and it is COLD out there! Have the heavy coats handy if you are off to work or school this morning. It will be mostly sunny but blustery for today with highs only about 30 degrees. Winds will gust 30 to 35 mph.

First call map for Friday evening through Saturday morning - roughly 6PM to 6AM for the heaviest snowfall. There will likely be a band of heavy snow rates about 100 miles wide from this storm. Right now there is strong model agreement that a portion of this band moves into the Hudson Valley and Western CT, with lighter totals as you head to the east. If this shifts at all, we could easily see higher totals move into central and eastern CT.

Temperatures will be cold (20 to 25F), so expecting no problem for sticking, even at the shoreline. I made this map a little earlier than normal due to the holiday - please stay tuned for tweaks.
