We've always loved working with the team at , and this project was no different. Though stylistically not exactly in our wheelhouse, having any opportunity to deploy a spectacular package gets our blood pumping. In this case, the multi-point sets are custom bevel edge profile cylinder retrofit sets - custom width for narrow stiles, with the L-136 Snake River levers and TPC-302 oval turn pieces, 10-1/2" x 1-3/8" escutcheons. All in WP (POLISHED WHITE BRONZE). With the turn pieces prepared for profile cylinders in polished chrome finish.

Those lovely hinges are Sun Valley 4000 series standard 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" lift-off adjustable ball-bearing 2-knuckle hinges with acorn finials.

For the screen doors, we used F200 Bevel edge screen door patio function sets with 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" escutcheons, Accurate 6500 series locks, L-20 Mini Croy levers and TPC-202 mini oval turn piece, WP finish (with smaller 3-1/2" x 3-12" hinges).

We won't go into everything Rolf and his team had to do to get it all working in that narrow space, but let's just say that there are few shops who could land that detail with such precision and elegance. Hats off!

Makes your head spin. Think about all the labor that goes into getting to this point in a project.
Even before the hardware is specified there's the discovery process. Function, Material, Style, Security.
Decisions decisions decisions. Once there's a spec (sometimes after hundreds of emails and calls and decisions are hammered out with owners, architects, contractors, subs, vendors, distributors), an order is coordinated, created and then communicated.
In this case it was a dozen or so different vendors. There was marrying FSB trim with custom Accurate electrified mortise locks with the latest solenoid technology. There were special wood and machine screws. And everything in between.
Then there is all the craftsmanship and experience that goes into making the hardware, made from material someone mined. There are the engineers and the dreamers who keep designing and making great hardware. There's the "back of house" in all those companies all over the globe who make sure the machinery stays running and the employees get paid. Oh, and Master keying, and the custom strikes. Let's not forget the change orders. But we are still not in the box. Everything is received by the team here at Index-d, and that's not just a matter of signing that UPS doohickie. That's looking at every piece of hardware for ANY defects or damage in the finish (happens), making sure every set is handed correctly, everything works together, spindle lengths are correct, cylinders turn, countless other checks just to make sure it is right. If there are returns and reorders, those need to be tracked etc. Then each item is labeled for its specific door and packaged carefully in these boxes, per door set, for the journey to the west coast. The final check before, in this case, they are all palletized (we had some long dropseals in this order) and then picked up, shipped and delivered. Every step is critical work done by someone who cares and needs to know what they're doing to make this all work. The labor of hundreds of people goes into that box. And our team is very proud to play a central role in the larger effort to create a beautiful place in this world.

Another simple solution to the hands-free dilemma facing many of you facilities managers and business owners. has produced another easily-to-install that can provide an easy way to reduce exposure to by keeping our hands off the lever while still allowing full access. You can install it in a couple of orientations on bar pulls from 3/4" to 1-1/2" diameter. Ingenious and, alas, necessary. Great is meant to be felt. For now, these solutions will have to do.
